August 4, 2022 – The Jacksonville Tree Commission, an independent board formed in 2017 to develop and maintain the Tree Canopy and manage the Tree Mitigation Fund, will be holding public workshops in October and November of 2022.
The purpose of the review is to take stock of current plans and practices, gather public input, and facilitate a discussion of future priorities and initiatives.
Scenic Jacksonville, whose founding members spearheaded the passing of the Tree Ordinance, has been an active advocate working collaboratively with sister non profit organizations and the City of Jacksonville. We participated in the Special Committee on Resiliency and more recently the Urban Heat Study.
We will keep the public informed as plans are finalized.
